One of the traditions of the St. John's festivities in Porto is the Regatta of Rabelo Boats on June 24th.

But did you know, that without the Douro Valley, these boats wouldn't have a big influence in history? These are the boats, that traditionally transportet the Barrels full of wine, from the Douro Wineregion down the Douro River until the city of Vila Nova de Gaia where the Porto Wine would begin its aging process.

But this is just one detail of the complex historic process that turned the Porto Wine special. Let us tell you about all the hard work necessary to produce these fortified wines and show you the reasons why the Douro Valley has been classified as World Heritage Site.
